Make Sure You Know!

We’re so glad you clicked this link and want to “Make Sure You Know,” you are right with God! The very fact that you clicked this link, tells me that you have a doubt that you may not be right with God. Even if that doubt is small, I can tell you this, if you’re not sure, then you are not right with Him.

Some might say, “How can you say this, Pastor Todd?” And the answer is simple! Because the Word of God (the Bible) makes it very clear.

Paul, the Apostle, states in Romans 8:16, that “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God…” Friend, if you’re doubting if you’re right with God, even a little bit, is proof that “His Spirit,” which is the Holy Spirit, is not “bearing witness” with your spirit, that you are a child of His.

Here’s great news! Making sure you know, is as simple as talking to God, right where you’re at! It’s not difficult but will require something of you. It requires that you first put your complete trust in the exchange Jesus, His Son, made for you when He was crucified on the cross.  For the sake of those that are unsure what this means, I’ll explain. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23. We could also say it like this, “The price that MUST be paid for the sin I commit – is death!” When you or I sin, God said, death is the price to participate. Most people believe death is what happens at the end of your life, and that is correct. However, ultimate death is eternal separation from God. This is exactly what God was saying in Romans 6:23. “The price that MUST be paid for the sin I commit – is separation from God.”

In the simplest explanation of what took place in the crucifixion of Jesus was this; Jesus paid that price of death for the sins of the world. “Making Sure You Know,” that you know you’re right with God, is putting your trust, your faith, in what Jesus did, and that He did it for you. That is the first requirement.

The second requirement is to say with your heart, what you just put your trust in. The Bible says in Romans 10:10 (NLT), “For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”  You may say, “But Pastor Todd, how can you be so sure God accepted the payment Jesus made by dying on the cross for me?” That is part of the third requirement! You can rest assured that God accepted that payment because, after three (3) days, the Bible confirms this, history books confirm this because He rose again from the dead. And He could only do this because He IS the Son of the Living God! No other person on this globe, in all of history, who claimed to be a god, a prophet, or someone to be worshiped – died and had the power to defeat death, hell and the grave, and come back to life. Friend, the world celebrates this event every year at Easter. It’s not about ham, jelly beans, and the Easter bunny – but rather – to celebrate the fact the He, and He alone IS the Son of God, who paid your debt of Death, and came back to life, proving He is who He said He is!

How do you make sure you know that you know you are right with God? By telling God, your Heavenly Father, that you have sinned, and that you put your complete trust in His Son Jesus, and that you believe and confess in your heart, that He, Jesus, IS the Son of God and rose from the dead. It’s really that simple. You may say, “Come on Pastor Todd, there has to be a catch or something more!” And, you’d be correct in thinking there is something more. This, my friend, is what separates those that truly believe what they’ve just prayed and want change from those that just want their conscience soothed. The “catch,” or what’s more is this. Making Him, Jesus, Lord of your life.

The Bible says, and actually are the words of Jesus Himself, that many, when they pass from this life to the next, will say, “Lord, Lord, ” we did this and that in your name. But the Bible says that He will look at them and say, “Depart from me you worker of sin, I never knew you.” See, my friend, it’s not just praying the prayer to have your sins forgiven that makes Him Lord of your life. It’s all wrapped up in the last four words He said – “I never knew you.” Salvation, knowing that you know you’re right with God, yes has to do with praying and believing, but after that, it’s about a relationship between you and Him. That relation is a daily process, a weekly process, a life process of talking to each other, spending time with each other, reading about His life and discussing it with Him, asking for help and doing what He asks of you – because – He is truly the Lord of your life. And that, my friend, is true Christianity.

There is one more thing. The Bible says to tell someone that you made this choice. In fact, Jesus said this, “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33 (NLT)
